Tangier Grand Wilderness Area

TANGIER GRAND WILDERNESS AREA BROOK TROUT RESEARCH (NS)

This project is intended to determine the overall health and population densities of the Tangier Grand Wilderness Area located in Nova Scotia. In addition, impact studies regarding increased accessibility where also undertaken. Tangier Grand Wilderness Area Brook Trout Research (TGWA) has a number of general objectives including:

1) 

Evaluate the overall health of different trout populations in TGWA.

2) 

Assess the degree to which accessibility might impact trout population health.

3) 

Produce and develop information that will facilitate proper management decisions regarding accessibility and sustainable fisheries in TGWA.

4) 

To evaluate the overall health of different TGWA trout populations collected from ten core lakes and compare the data, three additional bonus lakes may also be sampled.
