Cottonwood Riparian Cottonwood Riparian Zone Enhancement-Bow River Chapter CCF funds were used by the Bow River chapter to wrap cottonwood trees of all sizes to protect them from beaver grazing.Over-grazing by beavers along the banks of the Bow River can lead to damage of the riparian region by destabilizing banks leading to erosion. A component of this project also included re-visiting and maintaining previously wrapped cottonwood sites as well as removing restricted and noxious weeds from selected areas.
During the course of their tree wrapping duties chapter members also cleaned up the bank areas, removing garbage, debris and old fencing wire.
