CROWSNEST RIVER HABITAT PROTECTION, REHABILITATION AND CONSERVANCY PROJECT
The purposes of this project are to rehabilitate and maintain riverine, riparian and upland habitat on two lease properties along the Crowsnest River. This will be done through cleanup of hazardous materials, refuse, coal slag and dangerous fencing that occupy these areas. Noxious weeds that persist on the properties will be kept at tolerable minimums through regular manual weed removal and use of registered control procedures. Areas that have been affected by soil removal or degraded by heavy equipment and coal slag, will be rehabilitated by approved means including re-seeding with approved grass and/or other herbaceous species as deemed appropriate.
The objective is the long-term sustainability of the areas and to provide stewardship and learning opportunities for all members of the public. For more information on this or any other CCFund project, contact Brian Meagher.
